What Is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)?
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a simple, non-invasive wellness therapy designed to increase the amount of oxygen delivered throughout the body.
Sessions take place inside a sealed hyperbaric chamber, where the air pressure is gently increased to 1.5 ATA (atmospheres absolute) — slightly higher than normal atmospheric pressure at sea level. While inside the chamber, you breathe high-concentration oxygen through a comfortable mask supplied by an oxygen concentrator.
This combination of mild pressure and enriched oxygen allows your bloodstream to absorb significantly more oxygen than normal breathing. The extra oxygen dissolves directly into your plasma and body tissues, helping it reach areas with reduced circulation such as muscles, joints, organs, and the brain.
The experience itself is calm and relaxing. Most people lie back comfortably, listen to music, read, or rest while the body naturally uses the increased oxygen to support recovery, balance, and wellbeing.

What Is ATA and Why Does Pressure Matter?
ATA (Atmospheres Absolute) is a unit used to measure air pressure. At normal sea level, we live at 1.0 ATA.
Inside a hyperbaric chamber, pressure is gently increased. At 1.5 ATA, the lungs can absorb much more oxygen with each breath. Under pressure, oxygen doesn’t just bind to red blood cells — it dissolves directly into plasma and other body fluids, allowing it to reach tissues that are normally difficult to oxygenate.
This increased oxygen delivery happens without placing strain on the heart or lungs, making mild-pressure HBOT both effective and well-tolerated.
Why 1.5 ATA Hyperbaric Chambers?
Our wellness centre uses 1.5 ATA soft-shell hyperbaric chambers, which are widely recognised as ideal for wellness, recovery, and preventative health.
Pressures in the 1.3–1.5 ATA range are:

During your session, oxygen is delivered via an oxygen concentrator, not a compressed gas tank.
An oxygen concentrator continuously draws in room air, filters out nitrogen, and supplies up to 93% pure oxygen through your breathing mask.

What to Expect During a Session
A typical session lasts 60 to 90 minutes.
You’ll enter the chamber and lie back comfortably. As pressure gently increases, you may notice a mild fullness in the ears — similar to flying — which is easily managed by swallowing or yawning.
Once at pressure, you’ll relax while breathing oxygen through a soft mask. The chamber remains quiet, warm, and comfortable throughout. Many clients read, listen to music, meditate, or nap.
At the end of the session, pressure slowly returns to normal. Most people leave feeling calm, refreshed, and lightly energised, and can return to daily activities immediately.
